Georgian Farmers` Union supports the agricultural development activities. Promotes new products and modern technologies in horticultural production by organizing field days and establishment of demonstrative plots for different crops. Through the support from the Project AgVantage Georgian Farmers` Union implements the project on Early Potatoes Production covering 2 ha of area in V. Savane (Bolnisi district) and on 3 ha area in V. Sabatlo (Dedoplistkaro district). This Village is located near the border of Azerbaijan and is characterized with the same climate conditions as it is in Azerbaijan, where harvesting operations start 3 weeks earlier than in Georgia. By this time prices on early potatoes are very high (minimum 50% more) in Russia and in Georgia as well as. Main objective of the project is to harvest potatoes from the middle of May, in the same period Azerbaijan provides the harvesting and making comparison of these two locations according to date of harvesting and productivity.
